If Your Forum Isn’t Working for You, Change It

By Melanie Summer, Owner, Fortress Learning

When I joined EO, people told me it would be life changing. I wanted that. I was ready for it.

Like every new member, I was placed in a forum. The people were lovely—smart, kind, welcoming. But something felt off. It didn’t feel like growth. It felt like catching up for coffee. I didn’t join EO to coast—I joined to be challenged.

So I started asking around. What I heard over and over was this: “If your forum isn’t working for you, you might be in the wrong one.” That was tough to hear. I genuinely liked the people in my forum. But I realised I was holding myself back by staying where it felt safe. So I made a shift. And that one change changed everything.

Fast-forward nine years, and EO has been exactly what I hoped for—and more. Forum is often a member’s first experience with EO. It’s where connection begins. It’s where deep learning happens. It’s where transformation takes root. But only if it’s the right fit.

If you’re not feeling stretched, not feeling seen, not feeling growth—have the conversation. Ask the question. Don’t settle. Change your forum. Because when forum works, EO works.
