How EO Sparked a Personal and Business Breakthrough at My Lowest Point

Jason Lawrence, Founder and Managing Director of SalesFix

I’m writing to you from my caravan at Dicky Beach on the Sunshine Coast—such a beautiful reminder of just how lucky I am to live in an era where technology lets us work from anywhere. But it’s not just the tech I’m grateful for. I also feel incredibly fortunate to be part of EO, an organisation that has not only shaped me into a stronger business leader but has also transformed me on a personal level.

Let me take you back a few years. After 14 years of running SalesFix, I’ve seen my business and I go through several growth cycles—some great, some challenging. And while there have been many highs, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. But it was during one of my lowest points that EO became the catalyst for real change.

In 2023, I attended the EO Regional Leadership Academy (RLA). Now, I’ll be honest with you, 2023 wasn’t a year of active engagement for me. My wife and I had decided to take a year to travel, embracing the flexibility of working remotely. It was an exciting chapter, but as a result, I wasn’t fully immersed in my EO community or its teachings.

Coming out of COVID, my business had solid cash flow, and with that, I was able to build a solid leadership team, allowing me to step away from the daily grind. I thought I had things under control. But by 2024, things took a turn. Sales were struggling, important deals were falling through, and cash flow was weakening. SalesFix was in trouble.

At that point, I was already committed to attending the 2024 RLA reunion in Malaysia. But with the business in a tough spot, I found myself questioning whether I could justify the expense. Should I go for inspiration, or should I stay and focus on saving the business? My leadership team and I weighed the options, and we were divided. But I took a leap of faith and decided to attend. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I could have made.

When I arrived at the Reunion, I was at my lowest. I wasn’t just physically drained, I was emotionally spent. But as soon as I opened up to my fellow EO members, I realised something profound: I wasn’t alone. Successful entrepreneurs, just like me, had faced similar struggles. They shared their own stories of adversity, of failure, and of coming back stronger. There was no judgment—only support and a collective understanding. That alone was incredibly empowering.

It was at that Reunion that I found my “nugget”—that one piece of wisdom that could shift everything, “You are not alone”. The clarity I gained from the experience was life-changing. I realised that, no matter what happened with the business, I would be okay. I would rise again. And that belief was everything. It gave me the resilience to push through and take the steps necessary to rebuild.

I returned home with a renewed mindset, armed with insights from the Reunion and a strengthened leadership team. Together, we took decisive action and began turning the business around. While we’re not fully where we want to be yet, the difference is undeniable. SalesFix is on the up, and so is my perspective on life and business.

I’ve learned that transformation often comes in the most unexpected moments. A single piece of insight, one conversation, one connection—these are the catalysts that can shift your entire reality. EO gave me that moment, and I’m so grateful for it.

If you’re facing challenges or feeling stuck, don’t underestimate the power of the right community and the right time. It could be the very thing that helps you turn things around and start living with renewed hope and purpose.
