What is the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO)?
The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is a global, membership-based community of entrepreneurs founded in 1987. With over 19,000 members across more than 222 chapters in 86 countries, EO provides a supportive environment where business owners can connect, learn, and thrive. EO Queensland is one of the five Australian chapters (the others are Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth).
Who is suitable for EO Membership?
EO membership is ideal for business owners, founders, and majority shareholders seeking a dynamic community to support their personal and business development.
Full EO members must have a minimum annual revenue of US$1M (~AU$1.5M), verified by their accountant. EO also offers an Accelerator membership tier for early-stage companies with revenue between US$250K and US$1M.
For venture-backed companies, specific funding and employee criteria apply.
How is EO different from other “business owner” groups?
EO stands apart from other “business owner” groups in several key ways:
- EO is a not-for-profit organisation. Unlike many business groups focused on profit, EO’s not-for-profit status ensures all membership dues are directed toward member benefits.
- EO is member-led, not “guru-led”. Our organisation is driven by its members, for its members. This ensures every activity and decision is shaped by those who truly understand the needs and challenges of fellow entrepreneurs.
- EO focuses on Business, Personal and Family. Our holistic approach encompasses every facet of an entrepreneur’s life, recognising that balance across business, personal, and family realms is crucial for sustainable success.
- EOers share experiences, not advice. EO members are trained to share real-world experiences with their peers, as opposed to “giving advice”. This creates an environment of authentic trust, where individuals are empowered to make their own decisions.
- EO has a non-solicitation policy. We maintain a strict non-solicitation policy to ensure a safe and supportive environment where entrepreneurial peers can connect without pressure or hidden agenda. That said, many of our members do end up doing business together — however the impetus to do business with another must come from the “buyer” rather than the “seller”.
- EO offers diverse opportunities for learning, growth and fun. Members can access local, regional, and global events, as well as social, travel, and educational experiences. A detailed list of these offerings is available in our Free Membership Guide.
- EO is a values-led organisation. Membership goes beyond paying fees; members must also be aligned with our core values: Trust and Respect, Think Big – Be Bold, Thirst for Learning, and Together We Grow. You can learn more about these values here.
- EO has high member retention. While many business groups experience high turnover, EO Queensland has an annual retention rate of 88% to 92%. This is a testament to the impactful experiences and valuable relationships members cultivate within EO.
- EO is a place where you can “choose your own adventure”. With a huge variety of programs and activities, members can tailor their EO experience to meet their unique needs and aspirations.
- EO makes room for your Spouse/Life Partner and Key Executives. In addition to offering core programs for Entrepreneurs, our Spouse/Life Partner Program and Key Executive Program offer optional tracks for the most important people in your inner circle.
What are the core benefits available to EO Members?
EO Members enjoy a variety of benefits, including but not limited to:
- Forum: Monthly peer-to-peer sharing with your own “personal board” in a high-trust environment.
- Events: Access to local, regional, and global events.
- Connections: Building a strong network of entrepreneurs globally.
- MyEO: Tailor-made experiences based on individual interests.
- Executive Education: World-class education opportunities with top institutions including Harvard, MIT, INSEAD, London Business School and more.
- Path of Leadership: Engage in leadership roles within the organisation.
- Optional Spouse/Life Partner and Key Executive Programs
I am a non-business owner (e.g., executive). Can I join EO?
EO Membership is exclusively for business owners, founders and majority shareholders. However, we offer the Key Executive Program for key executives within companies where the principal is a full EO Member.
Is EO a “networking group”?
While business and personal networking is a natural outcome, EO is not just a networking club. It’s an enriching community focused on learning, growth, and building trusting relationships.
What are the membership fees?
Membership fees comprise local and global dues and change from time to time. Current fees are outlined on our EO Membership and EO Accelerator pages. Our fees support numerous events, functions and experiences throughout the year. All fees go into member benefits as we are a not-for-profit organisation.
