EO Has Helped Fuel Me and My Business

By David White
Founder and Managing Director of Fuellox

As an EO Accelerator I have learnt a lot about myself, and seen personal changes that truly have helped fuel me and in turn my business.

Going back a few years I was struggling to reach $50k a month but now we are heading to $150K a month.

EO has helped get our business on track. We now have a team of 5 people, our brand is strong, and we have a good customer retention level.

However it’s the change in me that has been truly transformational. I now understand that I was the road block to taking my business to the next level. I have gone from being panicked every day about sales to feeling comfortable that I can be away from the day-to-day and things won’t fall apart.

I know that the business is in safe hands and the team can hit their targets while I’m away. All of this means that I can focus on building our channel, finding new distributors or working on business growth opportunities.

Looking back, I probably overestimated how well my corporate experience had prepared me for building a business. I thought that coming from a strong corporate background with a wealth of experience and knowledge was all I needed. It truly was not the case.

Lucky for me and the business I refused to give up on what could have been a real failure. My perseverance topped off with a healthy dose of EO has helped me see that by learning more about myself, me and the business can do better than just survive, we can thrive.

Today I trust the team more, spend more time working on the business than in it, and the business no longer depends on me being involved in every decision. Actually, I have told the team that when we reach $500K in a quarter we will all be off to a ‘work from the beach week’. We have a way to go but I am confident we will get there.

And in closing, for those wondering, yes it was me who was called up on stage by Verne Harnish at the ‘Tribu’ regional event in Manilla in May.

A few people have wondered how that came to pass. During a break in the event I noticed that Verne was standing on his own, so I went up to say Hi, and thank him for sharing his wisdom. We chatted and Verne asked about my business. When the event started up again, Verne invited me to the stage. He referenced how the work we are doing at Fuellox was establishing important fuel data set information.

A healthy stream of people spoke to me following my short stage appearance and there are a few business opportunities to follow up on.

Yet another example of how the EO journey is transformational.
