5% Reflections can take you on a trajectory that you never saw coming

• When my wife and I learned we couldn’t have any more children, we decided to get a dog named Buster. As Buster was nearing the end of his life, the thought of having to say goodbye weighed heavily on me. Initially, I believed this emotional struggle was about losing a beloved pet. However, it wasn’t until I engaged in a deeper 5% reflection that I discovered the root of my feelings: I was actually grappling with the reality of my aging siblings.
• Having siblings significantly older than me, I realised I had been unconsciously pulling away as they approached the later stages of their lives. This revelation prompted a crucial decision: I could either continue to distance myself to shield my heart or lean in and deepen my relationships with them while I still could. I chose the latter, and I am profoundly grateful I did.
